you look at the year of 2012, we have to put it in perspective. the euro/u.s. dollar didn't move that much whatsoever. from that point of view, i don't think that we just have to look at today or the last two days of development in euro/u.s. dollar. of course, global trade is really important for the german economy. it continues to be very important. even from a private consumption point of view, we did have quite a bit of support as of late. also because of the wages. and looking at the world bank report, also looking at the asian economies in 2013, 2014, them seeing a little better picture is very good for the german economy and not to speak about the turnaround in the u.s. which seems to be stabilizing, looking this also at the housing market. so business sentiment better than expected. it is rising. the current conditions a little weaker than expected. add to that the financial analyst numbers we had as of late, also better than expected. not too bad. >> patricia, we'll see you again next hour. thank you very much for following all the latest there. >> sure. >>> now, shares in ubs

four people dead including the u.s. ambassador to libya. more determined there had been no specific warning of a potential attack on 9-11. there had been several incidents on the days before the attack which should have set off alarm bells. the obama administration blamed spontaneous demonstration against an anti islamic video. it turns out there was no demonstration. wall street journal is reporting that surveillance cameras around the compound shows that to be the case the video confirming there was no protest before the attack. neither does it prove that al qaeda was involved in a preplanned attack according to the newspaper. the raw video was edited into a 10-minute presentation provided to law americas. they started kicking in doors instead of blasting their way in saying they didn't have the right tools for the job. after the foreign affairs committee get their briefing today there will be an open hearing in which secretary of state hillary clinton was scheduled to appear until she became ill and suffered a concussion. >> stef centansen ta -- steve c for us in washington. >>>

attack on the u.s. consulate is blaming state department heads and its bureau of diplomatic security. this is video from the attack, after it happened, what was left behind. the independent investigation found security "inadequate." the review board does not single out any particular individual for disciplinary action. the panel determined that there was no protest before the attack of the consulate to trigger the raid. u.s. ambassador christopher stevens and three others were killed in that attack. >>> donald trump having the last laugh after a former ms. usa contestant trashed his pageant. she defamed the organization and awarded it $5 million in damages. trump sued after form upper ms. pennsylvania claimed that the pageant was rigged and trashy. trump give her 24 hours to take back the accusations. she refused. the case went to arbitration, and trump said he had no choice but to sue and called the ruling "an expensive lesson for her." >>> your temperatures already dipping down. upper 30s in livermore. 43 out the door. in mountainview, 38, napa 46. not too bad along the coastline.

field. so what is the legislative low-hanging fruit now? the u.s. senate has done a very small part of it, unanimously passing a bill that allows federal officials to help local authorities respond to mass shootings or other violent crimes in public places, a jurisdictional thing. that's a start. that's something. but is it more possible now in a changed political landscape, in a changed country. what about the issue of federal research on guns? that's not allowed right now. back in the mid-'90s, an arkansas republican pushed an amendment through congress that is still in effect today. it strips the centers for disease control budget of $2.6 million specifically, because that is the exact amount the agency had spent on gun-related research. it also outlawed further research on gun control. that's what it says in the amendment. none of the funds made available for injury, prevention and control at the centers for disease control may be used to advocate or promote gun control that is still the law. or how about allowing the government to release the information it is still allowed to

in hawaii. on september 11th the u.s. ambassador and three other americans were killed on a terrorist attack in libya. tuesday an independent review investigating the incident released its findings. a panel was highly critical of the state department saying they ignored arrests in tripoli for more guards and security upgrades relied who heavily on specific requests instead of security. and used unprotect militia to protect the compound. the report also found the attack was not the result of protests over anti-islamic video as first reported. in a letter to congress, secretary of state hillary clinton said she accepts all of the panel's 29 recommendations writing there is no higher priority for me or my department. >>> though there seems to be progress still no fiscal cliff deal in washington. house speaker john boehner said he has a backup plan. but that's not enough for one in three americans who according to a new survey are cutting back on spending due to fears of going over that cliff. nbc's tracie potts joins us now with more. good morning. >> reporter: mara, good morning. good m

detention of u.s. citizens from the national defense authorization act, or ndaa. the senate approved an amendment that would prevent the military from imprisoning any u.s. citizen or permanent residents deemed a terrorism suspect without charge or trial. but according to the new york times, congressional negotiators have dropped the provision in the effort to merge the bill's house and senate versions. the swiss banking giant ubs has been ordered to pay a $1.5 billion fine for its role in the manipulation of the london interbank offered rate, or libor, which provides the basis for rates on trillions of dollars in transactions across the globe. the rigging of libor meant millions of borrowers paid the wrong amount on their loans. the bulk of the fines, $1.2 billion, will be paid in the u.s., with the rest going to britain and switzerland. ubs has also admitted to committing wire fraud through its tokyo branch on libor rates in japanese currency. at least nine medical workers have been killed in a series of attacks on a polio vaccination effort in pakistan. three people were k
